Just like the rest of you, I type more on my iPhone than I actually talk on it. So, when I found this little gem of a secret hidden away in my iPhone settings I was pretty happy. Since I often use texting as a method of contact not only with friends but also with clients, I want to sound just as professional through typing as I do on the phone. The problem is that I am often in “auto-pilot” when typing on my phone. When I say “auto-pilot” I mean that I use all of the common shortcuts and abbreviated words that we have all come to love.
So what’s a business professional to do?
Presenting iPhone Keyboard Shortcuts
What are they: iPhone keyboard shortcuts is a section of your setting application that lets you create shortcuts for all of the words that you don’t want to type.
How are they used: Simple… After creating the shortcuts (tutorial to follow) all you have to do is type the shortcut and viola… Your iPhone will change it to be the complete term without you loosing stride in your typing.
How do I create them:
- Open your “Settings” app.
- Tap “General”.
- Tap “Keyboard”.
- Tap “Shortcuts”.
- Tap “+” to create a new shortcut.
- Fill in “Phrase” as the complete term you want your iPhone to change the shortcut to.
- Fill in “Shortcut” to be the short version that you want to type.
- Tap “Save” and enjoy!
