There have been some reports of an attempt to gather MobileMe user’s credit card information by signing people up for Apple’s new iCloud service. While some users say that they’ve gotten as far as navigating to the site they quickly stopped all activity and didn’t submit any information to the site.
For any users that possibly received this email here is what it looks like.

As you can see there are plenty of inconsistencies that you can determine to be un-Apple.
Some inconsistencies in this email can tip you off if you are paying complete attention:
- iCLOUD rather than iCloud
- The Apple store Team rather than The Apple Store Team.
- The general absence of any Apple logos.
While some of these differences are extremely minor, anyone that has received an official Apple communication through email knows that these are enough to determine this particular email’s authenticity.
For anyone that has a curious mind here is what the site will look like if you happened to click on through the email.

Inconsistencies shine even brighter once you get to the site.
Once you get to the site, if the email didn’t tip you off, you are greeted with even more un-Apple content. Just to name a few…
- Navigation has no rollovers. My not even have buttons but I didn’t click any of them.
- The Apple Store logo has the text “Apple Store” still visible over the logo image.
- Help | Account | Cart menu alignment.
- The Copyright and Other Stores is actually the footer of the old Apple Store from 2008.
- Plenty more but those are the obvious ones.
